“Byabodhan,” also known as “The Homecoming” in English, is a notable play by Rabindranath Tagore, the renowned poet, playwright, and Nobel laureate in Literature. Written in Bengali, “Byabodhan” was first published in 1914 and has since become a classic in Bengali literature.

The play revolves around the story of Charulata, the young wife of Bhupati, a wealthy and intellectually inclined Bengali intellectual. Charulata feels lonely and neglected due to her husband’s preoccupation with his work and his cousin, Amal, who shares his interests. However, when Bhupati encourages Amal to spend time with Charulata to alleviate her loneliness, an emotional bond begins to develop between Charulata and Amal, leading to a complex love triangle.
